I saw you again today – only this time the vision appeared too close, too real, too discomfiting like a pensive touch from the spirit world.  You have been gone three years now and I have almost seen you many times since.  Those moments left me feeling stranded, standing alone, waiting for a sign of your life that was.  I hear the sound of your voice on the lips of your daughter and the shape of your gentle blue eyes is carried forward in the lively brown eyes of your granddaughter.  But today your appearance startled me.  I never expected to look in the mirror and see my sister.

Karen Evans is a past president of Enid Writers’ Club.  Each month the membership is tasked with writing about an assigned subject with a maximum of 150 words. There is a traveling trophy.

    The program for the evening was author Veronica Fuxa who discussed her book Red Smoke, where her ideas come from, and what is next on her agenda.

The program for November is  author Mike Klaassen, fiction author from Wichita.
