A writers support and social club, Enid Writers meets the first Thursday of each month during the school year at Northwest Oklahoma State University. We hold informal critique sessions in private homes all year long. All area writers are welcome. You do not have to join to attend your first meeting.

History
Enid Writers Club is the oldest writing club in Oklahoma. Founded January 6, 1923 by Phillips University Professor Roy J. Wolfinger, Enid Writers Club is an affiliated member of Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc.

We tend to do a special event each year, most recently our writers conference, The Story, at Northern Oklahoma College in 2014 and Summer Wine, a Harvest of Words at the Enid Symphony.

  1. I am seeking creative direction. I have a trilogy, so to speak, that I would like to get out there and have no idea which direction to take next.

I’ve missed a couple (or more) meetings and would like to attend the March meeting which I assume will be on the 2nd (first Tuesday), but what is the writing prompt?

I am not sure I will be able to make the event you guys are hosting tomorrow, though it does sound quite appealing. But I am interested if there are weekly or monthly meetings I can attend to start working on my writing. Please, let me know. Thank you, Julian.

  7. When do regular meetings start up again? I contacted you earlier in the year, then my schedule went haywire and wanting to go to this fell to the wayside.

  8. Just yourself. If you want, you can bring a 150-word roll call piece from the prompt “On a Roll”. Two members are presenting “Save the Cat” We look forward to meeting you.

    1. Hello, not sure how this works. Wondering what “Save the Cat” is about. It prompted me to write why I cannot save the cat.

    1. Welcome Elias! Our next meeting is Thursday, Sept 7 at the NWOSU conference room, 6:30 pm. The theme for your 150-word “roll call” writing is “On a Roll”.

      1. Thank you.
Your second comment makes no sense to me, I must admit.

  10. No problem. We each create a short writing for the meeting on a theme. This month’s theme is “On a Roll.” Interpret it any way you choose.

You do not have to write one to come to a meeting, they are just fun to write and share.

I am a former president of the club and would like to back into the group. When is your May meeting?

  12. I could find no contact facility, so am taking the liberty of posting here.
I am offering a contest with the prize being a free edit of a full-length manuscript, and would be grateful if you could inform your members.
    Details are at http://wp.me/P3Xihq-1
    Entry is free.
I give free detailed feedback on the first 1000 words submitted, which is a benefit by itself.
As a professional editor since 1999, I work for a number of small, independent publishers, and a steady stream of authors pre-submission. In 2007, I won the Preditors and Editors “Best Editor” award (because one of my clients entered my name, then drummed up support).
Deadline for submissions is October 15, 2018.
    With thanks,
    Bob
